A sales funnel may seem complex, but it’s simply a graphical and conceptual representation of the stages a customer goes through before buying a product or service. It’s not only useful for learning the psychology of a purchase, it can also help you flesh out your marketing plan at a step-by-step level to ensure that you are getting leads, keeping leads, and making sales.

A sales funnel is also the term for a website that has a series of pages designed to move a user from product awareness all the way to purchase.

There are a number of ways to find sales funnel templates, and if you’re not happy with what you see, you can always make your own!

First, we have to start with the 5 steps of a sales funnel, and what they all mean to your business.

Step 1 is often called the “awareness” or “contact” phase, and it contains the largest pool of potential leads. This is the stage of the first contact, where you’ve contacted or been contacted by a lead through email, telephone, in person, etc. Consider how your business contacts lead – if you’re being too passive in this phase, you may want to beef up your communications channels.

Step 2 is the “qualification” or “interest” phase, which means you’ve received some kind of assurance that the lead is real and is considering the idea. Each phase, the pool of leads shrinks, but that’s completely normal.

Step 3 is the “pitch” phase, when you schedule either a long-form telephone call, a Skype call, a video conference, or an in-person meeting in order to hit the lead with the full presentation of your product or service.

Step 4 is the “evaluation” phase and is a crucial step because this is where you deal with customer concerns. This is where customers get the pre-purchase jitters, where they look for a reason not to buy. Your business must be prepared for this phase most of all – if you convert a lead, fantastic. However, even a skittish customer who leaves may come back someday, and they’ll remember how they were treated when they chose not to purchase.

Step 5 of the funnel, and sadly the smallest pool of people, is the “closing” phase. This is simply the moment when they’ve put down their money, signed the papers, taken the keys, etc.

Examine your business strategy at each one of these steps, and write down your strategy for effectively managing each of these phases.

Want to know what I mean? Let’s look at some easy options to help you fix your funnel.

Who or What is a Click Funnel?

One of the services that will help you design your landing page and website is called ClickFunnels. ClickFunnels specializes in sales funnels and is geared toward creating a site that increases sales and overall conversions.

The best thing about sites like ClickFunnels is that you don’t have to be a programmer or a tech expert to get started. They offer sales funnel templates, and all you have to do is fill out the words and the pictures. They handle the website hosting, the page creation, the programming, the whole thing. Plus, you get to choose from a bunch of pre-existing templates that have already worked for others – no need to reinvent the wheel.

How Do I Keep Track of My Leads?

Sales funnels are great for guiding a lead from awareness to closing, but in this brave new world, data is king. How do you know your tactics are working? How many leads do you have now versus your pre-funnel days? How can you improve your strategy if you’re not even sure it’s effective?

Enter an app like Rapid Funnel, which pairs with any tablet, mobile phone, or laptop. Think of it as a kind of “business-social media,” where any of your employees can enter the information of an interested lead and bam, the info is sorted, cataloged by level or field of interest, and available to all members of the team right on their phone.

You made need to do a little proofreading on the final version – not every robotic copywriter is perfect – but a program like FunnelScripts can still save you a lot of time and money, and get you the script you need faster.
